For part of my two months in Mexico we were to go find a place to live and do ministry with a community that we live in. We found a family who had an extra house for us to stay in called Santa Adelida.

The first thing we did was catch a bus to the grocery store to get a weeks worth of groceries, little did we know that we were going to be fed EVERY single meal by the community we lived in. I felt like Jesus living in this community we would wake up eat breakfast with someone at their house, go pray at the church, visit shut-ins pray for people and eat more meals with people. I always like to tell people that Jesus’ main ministry was praying and eating with people, up untill now I haven’t gotten to experience that and I can tell you after this week I have never been more full.

The church that we went to in the community was full of mainly older women and they would get up at the altar and cry out ( in spanish I would only catch bits and pieces of what they said) to the point that I would just be in tears.

The ladies in the church after morning prayer meetings would go visit shut ins at their homes and pray for them. As we entered one of the houses I felt the sense of darkness and it made me feel very heavy. We walked into the next room to an old lady (possibly blind) on a bed unable to get up and the ladies started praying for her in spanish. I felt overwhelmed by something and I stretched my hands over the lady to pray for her and I began weeping and the more I prayed the lighter I felt and I could see relief spreading over the ladies face. By the time we got done praying and we were leaving I felt very light and relieved but like I didn’t want to leave the old lady by herself.

As the day goes on we have several people come over to our house and give us more food for lunch and go over to people’s house for dinner, and I just can’t explain how satisfying it is to go from house to house eating with people, just like Jesus did.
